Hot Pink
Exploring historical silhouettes with a modern edge, in the first look, I set out to modernise the Eighteenth Century and Victorian Era fitted jackets and stomachers so that they could be worn today. I laser-cut the jean label out of scrap leather from the local Vanson Leather factory. As well as using orange bias tape instead of lining to highlight the thick two-toned satin, and minimise the use of unnecessary fabric. Using top stitching and French and flat-felled seams as design details, I drafted and iterated each pattern piece 7 times to ensure the seams curved around the body thoughtfully.

Two pink-themed looks, designed + constructed a year apart, combined into 1 capsule. 2018-2019.
8 months later, caught in that terrible situation of having learnt too much about the sustainability of fabric and dyes and not wanting to make, because I couldn’t find fabric that met my sustainability standards in the available timeframe, I detested the second look and opted to turn it into a parody.
“Socialite Veronica Wood of the Wood Family Empire invites the Hollywood Journal to her East Coast mansion retreat for the weekend. Exclusively wearing bespoke Isabelle Saxton, Wood stuns in a mauve wool coat, daring satin playsuit and doll-like jacket as she gives us the tour of her grounds. Wood's personality shines through, showing off Oscar-worthy attitude and teasing poses; she even introduces us to some of her statuesque friends.”
